ABOUT RED PATCH
Red Patch is an award-winning theatre company based in Newham. We create community-led work that tackles social issues, especially those related to mental health recovery.
Community engagement is central to our work, such as our upcoming community writing project, PATCHED, commissioned by Newham Festival of Stories. We believe all everyone has a story, and strive to create spaces where these can be told.
Red Patch’s methodology centres process over product, connection through creativity, and the joy of making art rather than the perfection of a finished result. Red Patch believes art is the most invaluable tool for healing, be that as a community or individual.
ABOUT KITTY
Kitty Pilgrim-Morris is a multidisciplinary artist, writer, and producer whose creative career started in 2019 when she was selected as a Royal Opera House Young Creative, through which she had her work performed at the Southbank Centre and the ROH. She went on to train at London Contemporary Dance School, where her interest in physical theatre grew. Kitty has also worked extensively in educational dance practices, including as a Dancing Mindfulness facilitator in primary schools for two years and as an art tutor.
After graduating, a chronic illness demanded she take a break from dancing; while recovering, she was painting, writing, and making music, building a creative world that feels technicolour in comparison to before she got ill. Interested in the lines between the epic and the everyday, big stories and small stories, comedy and tragedy, her work sits on the tipping point of these things. Her experience of illness and recovery has compounded her belief that art is the stream, the rhythm that underpins all the quirks of day to day life.
