In Autumn 2025, Red Patch were successfully commissioned by Newham Festival of Stories to run a Creative Writing project centring on the theme of home, to mark the 60th anniversary of the borough of Newham.
The project involved over fifteen Creative Writing workshops, a composing workshop for young musicians, a published zine of participant work, a community Open Mic and a short poetry film.
Bringing together a tapestry of stories, poems, and music, PATCHED was a showcase of community connection and resilience, a celebration of creativity as a powerful force of good in the borough.

‘It was incredible to see how [the residents] felt more comfortable opening up and expressing their thoughts and emotions. [red patch’s] approach made it simple for them to connect with their own stories, and it was really powerful to watch.’
[red patch] was a pleasure to work with… [they] came to each session with lots of energy and passion. We hope there will be future opportunities to work with [red patch] going forwards’
‘the sessions were so fun and really creative’
‘that was the first group i stayed in until the end’
